Personal Biography

Yuki Masahiro was born on New Year's Day in Gotemba, Japan, in the shadow of Mt. Fuji. His father and mother are both teachers, and Yuki has a sister named Midori. Masahiro did not excel at his studies as a youth, because he didn't care about studying. He was directionless and held numerous part-timer jobs in restaurants, bars, and street stands. One day at work, a talent scout saw him and offered him a job as a model. The lure of easy cash and lots of leisure time was too much for Masahiro to resist. He was only 17 years old at the time. Thus began 4 and 1/2 years of "endless party". Masahiro was completely taken in by the glamour of his lifestyle and fell head-first into it -- although he /did/ send money home to his family every month. But soon he was doing more partying than working, and the lifestyle began to take its toll.

One day, Yuki awakened in a strange city with no memory of how he got there. Over a week of his life had disappeared, for he had no recollection of where he had been or what he had done. A stranger took pity on him and took him to a nearby temple. The monks there told Masahiro that it was New Year's Day -- his birthday -- and what could be the beginning of a new meaningful life for him, if he would only embrace it.

Masahiro went home. He quit the modeling agency, he disavowed all his "friends", he moved back in with his parents and Midori. All he did was sit in his room, thinking. Finally, one day, his mother could hear the clicking of computer keys behind the door. After a week, Masahiro told his family that he had applied and been accepted at the Star Fleet Academy. (The monks had a lot to do with his acceptance.) From the moment he stepped foot onto the aircraft that took him to the Academy, Yuki Masahiro was a changed man. Serious, studious, meticulous in his work, he never touched a drink the whole time he studied in San Francisco. He chose Administration as a way to utilize his organizational skills to their fullest and earned the respect of his instructors and his peers. Every great once in a while someone will recognize Masahiro from his modeling days and ask him about it. He says that was "someone else".

Kendo, soccer, swimming, Japanese tea ceremony.
